The Timbertown 10th Annual Steam Festival is on Again! The Timbertown Steam Festival will be held at Timbertown Heritage Theme Park over the weekend of 11th and 12th July, 2009, from 9.30am to 4.30pm. This event is hosted by The Timbertown Steam and Oil Engine Club Inc.
The Steam Festival will feature working displays of steam engines, tractors, vintage petrol and oil engines, vintage cars and trucks and the steam sawmill.
Another main highlight is a rare Wolf portable steam engine, owned by Robert Newbigging, a steam enthusiast from Manilla, NSW. It had been used to power the overhead gear in a woolshed on a property "Aberbaldie", in Walcha, NSW. It stayed on this property until 1930, and was then sold to a sawmill near Walcha, where it ran a docking saw until 1949. The Wolf was built in Germany in 1899, and how it arrived in Walcha is not known.
There will be a large number of working steam portable engines on display.
Don’t miss the Grand Parade each day. The public will also see the Timbertown bullocks loading the timber jinker, just like in the old days.
Other displays will include , exceptional model engines built from scrap metal - see these unique engines running. The miniature railway and the Clydesdale drawn wagon rides will also be in operation. Childrens’ games and rides, .
Anyone who is fascinated with the vintage farm machinery that our forefathers used in the past, shouldn’t miss a great day out!
